HONOURING THE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

To recognise and motivate matriculants to achieve excellence in their studies, an Academic Awards ceremony was recently held. This annual event, now in its third year, honoured the academic achievements of the matric class of 2022 by awarding the top-achieving learners with certificates and laptop equipment.

Funded by Bokamoso Solar, in partnership with the Department of Education for Maquassi Hills and Matlosana Municipalities, the celebration took place at the North West School for the Blind, Leeudoringstadt. As always, the event was well attended by more than 50 people, including Department of Education officials, principals, teachers, learners and their proud parents.

“We are committed to supporting the educational aspirations of learners at school and encouraging excellence in school work. We want to encourage learners to apply themselves to their studies and reward those who have put in the effort,” said Claire Phutieagae, Bokamoso Solar’s Community Operations Officer. “Furthermore, this was an opportunity to acknowledge the good work done by school principals and teachers.”

During the ceremony, 16 laptops and certificates were awarded to learners who had excelled in their studies. Three of the best-performing secondary schools, namely Leruntshe Lesedi, Thuto Tsebo, and Reabona Secondary, were also provided with laptops to assist teachers with administrative work.

Kutlwano Modisadife, a learner from Leruntshe Lesedi Secondary, expressed her gratitude to Bokamoso Solar for the support and recognition. “Thank you Bokamoso Solar for this support and for acknowledging the hard work that I have put into my studies,” she said.

Schools benefiting from this programme include Tiragalo Secondary, Wolmaranstadt Hoor Skool, Leruntse Lesedi Secondary, Ntlatseng Secondary, Reabona Secondary, Maitemogelo Secondary, Boskuil Combined, Kanana Secondary, Matlhaleng Secondary, Mmokeng Secondary, Orkney High School, Thuto Tsebo Secondary, Tshebedisano Secondary, and Vaal Tech.
