LOCAL SMMEs RECEIVE SUPPORT

The community of Kanana will soon have a local business hub, which will be built by a local construction company, ‘Man in Construction’. This local SMME, which recently completed Phase 1 a training programme alongside six other fledgling businesses, was subsequently appointed to build the ‘Kanana Business Hub’, which will serve as a one-stop shop for the community, offering five types of businesses under one roof.

“I am grateful to be part of the programme, which has landed us our first property and enterprise development project in Kanana. The objective of the ‘Kanana Business Hub’ project is to provide shisanyama, internet café, car wash, restaurant and gym services,” said Lehlohonolo Kantsa, owner of ‘Man in Construction’, which provides general building, civil works, electrical engineering, PV solar installation, property development, real estate, and enterprise development.

Together with 15 other local entrepreneurs, Kantsa is currently training in the second phase of the SMME Development Training Programme, implemented by Africa’s Got Game.

“The purpose of our programme is to elevate and accelerate entrepreneurs and provide them with the tools and resources to build businesses that have a positive impact on their communities,” stated Claire Phutieagae, Community Operations Officer for Bokamoso Solar, which funds this programme.

The company, located in Kanana Orkney, North West, currently employs two qualified local bricklayers; one qualified electrician artisan; and one female electrician/solar geyser installer.

“I am very passionate about helping and developing the youth in my community. Being part of this programme has provided me with valuable knowledge that will help me run my company more efficiently and fully give back to my community,” concluded Kantsa.
